Intentions for 2023

Start-Stop-KEEP

I stumbled across an authentic expression of myself in a recent therapy session:

“I love learning. Learning makes me want tomorrow.”

I am going to continue my dedication and love to learning. This will show through courses, certificates or a second master’s: I have just applied to the MSt in Practical Ethics at Oxford University. I will keep you posted about this.

This is the most important personal value that I carry. In fact, I wield it. Anyone who knows me knows that my vigor for life, my enthusiasm, is unmatched. I intend to continue into 2023 with what Walt Whitman once described as “original energy.” If I had a biography, it would likely be named that.

I will continue to write in 2023. I see this as one of the most core activities that I could do. At every turn of my life, in the most random ways and times, I am called out for “being a writer”. I am this; here it is. I intend writing to become an incredibly significant part of my life. I very much enjoy writing and publishing this newsletter. I intend to keep this going with similar themes so far expressed around philosophy, memories, thoughts about art and social trends. I also intend to move into other ideas and share interests around things like leadership, strategy, and coaching.

I don’t often talk about my physical health, but I am going to continue my simple workout routine and keep pursuing healthy foods. I workout 3–4 days a week, with plenty of walking around the city, and I love my green smoothie for lunch.

I will continue to read and listen widely in 2023. Last year, I found incredible books and music to make a part of my life. I will talk about books next week, but, for music:

  1. Wizkid, “2 Sugar”
  2. Chase Shakur, “honda civic ‘98”
  3. Oscar Peterson, “Goodbye”
  4. Costa Titch, “Bg Flexa”
  5. Berhana, “I Wasn’t Told”
  6. Djavan, “Maria das Mercedes”
  7. Silvestre y La Naranja, “Loco por Vos”
  8. Népal, “Babylone”

More soon,

Trevor
